Summary
The researchers choose to study the effects of interest, family, peers, and socio-economic status on the career choice of grade 10 students of St. Mathew College. The researchers’ objective is to determine if interest, family, peers, and socio economic status affects the career choice of the grade 10 students. The researchers use the descriptive survey as their research design. They use the unrestricted sampling design to choose their respondents.
The data gathered from the survey supports the main objective of the researchers’ study. The results show that most of the students say that peer pressure doesn’t affect their choice of career. While their interests has a great effect. On the other hand, parents and socio-economic status varies among the students.
This study was conducted in St. Matthew College, San Mateo, Rizal with a total of 123 respondents, 68 male and 55 females. The respondents came from the High school Department specifically the four sections of grade 10 which is zoisite, zircon, turquoise and topaz. Each respondents the answered 20 questions that will fulfill the needed information for the tabulation and presentation of data in tables.
B. Conclusion
In the researchers’ study of the effects of interest, family, peers, and socio-economic status on the career choice of grade 10 students they come up with the results enough to answer the questions regarding the problem.
The researchers conclude that interest, family, peers and socio-economic status have effects on the student’s career choice. Interest have the greatest effect to the students when choosing their career. The students also consider their family’s income in choosing their career choice. The students still consider their parents decision in choosing their career. On the other hand most of the respondents doesn’t consider their peers’ career choice for them.
This shows that the grade 10 students consider their own interests and most of them really want to have the course that they really like, but still the majority of students are still considering their family’s financial status while deciding their career that they are interested in.
